Spray Heads

Benefits

  • Provides efficient coverage for small to large areas.
  • Most versatile for applying moisture to turfgrass and most ornamentals.
  • Provides precipitation rates from 1 to 2 inches per hour.
  • Discharges a fine uniform spray that resembles small raindrops.
  • Provides satisfactory performance in the 20 to 30 lb pressure range.

Drawbacks

The biggest problem are trees and roots. You cannot space them far enough to keep away from problematic roots. The end result is sometimes very costly repairs and/or root damage.

What type or brand of spray heads?

We have found most brands to work as well as the other. We will put in any brand you want. The cost is the same.

Proper installation!

All of our pop-ups are at least 4". This is the minimum that should be put in turf areas. Although most people don't do it, St. Augustine should not be cut lower than 2-1/2" inches. You can see why a 4" popup is used. In beds the type of plant material is taken into consideration for the size of risers to be used. We always zone bedding plants seperate from turf areas. The water requirements are different and you don't water bedding plants the same as turf. This also allows you to water in new ornamentals after planting without having to water the turf. Heads are also spaced no more than 15 feet. This insures total coverage under most wind conditions. If a head can't be spaced 15 feet an extra head is always added and not stretched to make it work.
